2023 State Of The Union: A Guide To Watching President Biden's Address

On Tuesday, the start of President Biden's third year in office, he will give his second State of the Union address.

Networks will carry Biden's speech and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders' answer before, during, and after it. Biden will address the joint session of Congress at 9 p.m. ET.

The address will be shown on C-SPAN at 8 p.m., with Peter Slen and Greta Brawner as hosts.

The network will show a preview of the speech, and Katherine Tully-McManus, a congressional reporter for Politico, will talk about the political background of the speech. Julia Azari, who teaches political science at Marquette University, will talk about the history and change of the State of the Union.

C-SPAN and C-SPAN 2 will broadcast Congress members, Supreme Court justices, visitors, and the address live. C-SPAN will air Republican reactions to Biden's speech, while Pedro Echevarria will cover House and Senate reactions.

At 9 p.m., "Nightly News" anchor Lester Holt and "Today Show" co-anchor and NBC chief legal correspondent Savannah Guthrie will lead NBC News' coverage. Before the address, Holt will host a special live broadcast of the NBC Nightly News from Washington.

From 8 till midnight, NBC News Now will stream coverage. Tom Llamas and Hallie Jackson will anchor the first hour before NBC News simulcasts the speech at 9 p.m.

Starting at 8 p.m., Rachel Maddow, Joy Reid, and Nicolle Wallace will be in charge of MSNBC's prime-time coverage of the night. At midnight, Stephanie Ruhle and Ali Velshi will take over.
