Once again, another video game adaptation is coming to TV, and this time it's Peacock's action-comedy series "Twisted Metal," which will premiere on July 27 with all 10 episodes.

Based on PlayStation’s car combat video game series of the same name, the "Twisted Metal" games feature a cast of crazed characters, the most famous of which is a serial killer clown known as Sweet Tooth who drives an ice cream truck.

The "Twisted Metal" show follows John Doe, "a motor-mouthed outsider" played by Marvel star Anthony Mackie, who learns that a life-changing opportunity comes with a tall price – the delivery of a mysterious package. John must drive through the post-apocalyptic wasteland to complete his mission and survive the onslaught of killer cars.

The debut of another video game-turned TV adaptation comes as no surprise as other projects such as HBO’s “The Last of Us” and Universal’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” have garnered immense popularity.

"Twisted Metal" is based on a story written by showrunner and executive producer Michael Jonathan Smith and produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Reese and Wernick executive produce along with Mackie, Arnett, and Marc Forman via Electric Avenue, which secured the rights to the material and helped put the project together.

Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment, Peter Principato of Artists First, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions and PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst will also executive produce.

The teaser trailer for "Twisted Metal" shows Anthony Mackie locking, loading, and revving up for some vehicular carnage. In addition to offering a first look at Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's take on the iconic PlayStation franchise, the teaser also reveals that Season 1 hits the road on July 27.

The new footage opens with a closeup of Mackie's gloved hands as he turns the key, signaling the start of this twisted game. Before he can start his drive, however, he needs to have everything in order.

He loads up a shotgun for when he needs to blow away any rival drivers who get too close and quickly flips through a CD case to find his "Road Mix" because you can't go for a ride without good tunes.

Once the disc loads, and he turns up the volume, Len's "Steal My Sunshine" kicks in, and Mackie takes a second to rock out before putting the pedal to the metal.

Twisted Metal games were never afraid to get a little wacky, and the image of death and destruction set to such an upbeat tune sets the tone the action-comedy is going for.

Sweet Tooth is a particularly haunting threat in the series, embodied by Samoa Joe, better known as two-time All Elite Wrestling TNT Champion. The voice of the character, however, comes from Bojack Horseman star Will Arnett who'll help capture the character's more comedic, emotional side.

Stephanie Beatriz stars directly opposite Mackie as the original character Quiet, a badass axe-wielding car thief who'll form an unlikely and antagonistic connection with John Doe.

The rest of the cast features Thomas Hayden Church, Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, and Lou Beatty Jr.

Future adaptations are also promising for Sony's video game company as one of their flagship series, God of War, is also coming.
