Robey is able to use his victims’ deepest, darkest secrets to lure them in and carry out his crimes on a much grander scale than we’ve seen before in the franchise.

However, Luther, with his signature grey coat and blood-red tie, is equipped to save the day and finally put an end to Robey’s reign of terror.

We discover that Luther had been investigating Robey's disappearance during or before the events of Series 5.

Robey wasn’t behind Luther’s initial arrest, but we can assume that his vindictive role in exposing all of Luther’s past misdeeds shone a light on a trial that the Met would have rather kept quiet – and made Luther’s subsequent sentencing a certainty.

Robey’s evil plan involves building a Red Bunker in Norway where he broadcasts live shows of the torture and murder of his victims to high-paying subscribers on the dark web. He uses his victims' hidden transgressions or shame to lure them.

Luther and DCI Odette Raine track down Robey’s hidden house of horrors and are forced to surrender when Robey threatens to kill Odette’s kidnapped daughter.

In front of the online audience, Odette is forced to stab Luther; the tables are then turned, and Luther is told to smash Odette’s kneecap with a hammer.

However, Luther taunts Robey before he does so, dubbing him a sweaty anxious twat and revealing to the viewers that the police are on their way.

Luther chases after Robey and his pursuit ends when Robey’s 4x4 crashes and sends the two men into a frozen lake outside.
