It was announced on TNT right after the national anthem that he would be a reserve for the Eastern Conference in the All-Star Game. This seemed to give him even more energy. He made 5 of 8 shots in the first quarter and scored 11 points. By halftime, he had 16 points and 6 assists.

He scored 23 points and nine assists through three quarters, but the Pacers collapsed in the fourth. He shot 1-of-6 and 1-of-4 from 3 as the Pacers lost 28-15. They shot 6-of-22 and experienced winger Buddy Hield missed a buzzer-beating baseline floater. Davis' turnaround jumper won it.

Fans wanted to see LeBron James, so Thursday's game had some of the most expensive tickets of the season. It wasn't clear if he would go to the game until about an hour before it started, but he did, and that was another step toward breaking Kareem Abdul-record Jabbar's for most points scored in a career.

Aaron Nesmith, a forward for the Pacers, was given the job of guarding James. However, James's size and ability to drive to the basket make it hard for anyone to defend him. James had seven boards and seven assists as well.

Nesmith showed his rhythm with two first-quarter 3-pointers and a second-quarter one while drawing a foul. One third-quarter finish was particularly acrobatic. He scored 24 career-high points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range.

Rick Carlisle, Pacers coach, stated Aaron Nesmith was great. "Started the game shooting and running. Guarding James is tough. He avoided major mishaps.
