The new Galaxy S23 series has increased features for calling, listening to music, mobile gaming, streaming videos, taking photos, and more. S23 has Samsung's most advanced camera with 8K video, a newly built CPU micro architecture that improves processing by 30%, an optimised GPU that's 40% quicker than Samsung Galaxy S22, improved NPU technology to balance performance, and an AI system to help customers shoot great photos.

Galaxy S23 Ultra has Samsung's most advanced camera system, a S pen, and improved Nightogprahy and a 200MP Adaptive Pixel sensor to capture memories with precision in any lighting scenario.

Samsung said the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the most costly of the three models, had a 200-megapixel "adaptive pixel" sensor that combines 16 pixels into one larger pixel for brighter, more detailed images in low light.

The S23 Plus and S23 have 4,700 mAh and 3,900 mAh batteries. On Wednesday, Samsung announced its Galaxy Book3 laptop lineup, including a third Ultra variant with a 16-inch AMOLED display. Samsung offered two Galaxy Book2 models. Samsung expects the premium PC market will notice the new laptops.

According to IDC, global smartphone shipments fell 18.3% to 300.3 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022, a peak Christmas shopping time.

IDC reported 1.21 billion smartphone shipments in 2022, the lowest since 2013. Paolo Pescatore of PP Foresight told CNBC via email that consumer electronics suppliers are headed in the wrong direction.

Samsung's third-quarter profit fell on Tuesday. Operating profit was 4.31 trillion won ($3.4 billion), down 69% from a year earlier. Samsung blamed weak demand for mid- to low-end handsets and memory chips.
