The third season of The Mandalorian could be said to have begun last year when Din Djarin made an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, and now fans are eagerly anticipating the season's first episode.

Chapter 17, The Apostate, follows Din Djarin and Grogu as they prepare to journey to Mandalore, visiting several locations and meeting several major characters along the way.

The episode begins with a Mandalorian initiation ceremony interrupted by a giant gator-turtle-like creature, leading Din Djarin's former clan, The Watch, to find a new home.

Paz Vizsla appears to be the father, or at least a close relative, of the child about to become a Mandalorian.

The Armorer grants Din Djarin an audience after he defeats the giant creature, but she doesn't offer any new information on how he can atone for his sin of removing his helmet.

Mandalore isn't poisoned or uninhabitable as some believe, and scavengers are making a profit from mining the planet's minerals.

Grogu sees hyperspace for the first time and is amazed by the purrgils, massive whale-like creatures who appear for the first time in live-action and link to Star Wars Rebels.

On Nevarro, the town has grown into a bustling trade center, and Greef Karga offers Din and Grogu the chance to settle down, but Din turns him down.

Vane, a troublesome Nikto, leads a group of pirates to Nevarro and wants to drink at the former bar, which is now a school, leading to a showdown.

Din returns to Nevarro to resurrect IG-11, the droid bounty hunter that sacrificed itself in season 1 to save Grogu and our heroes.

IG-11's upper torso survived the explosion and is now part of a statue, but Din talks his old friend into letting him power up its remains.

IG-11 reverts to its original programming and tries to terminate Grogu, leading to an awkward scene where Din and Greef struggle to destroy a crawling torso.

Din is determined to resurrect IG-11 and continues on to meet the Anzellans, who live and work in a hilariously small workshop.

The Anzellans are Babu Frik lovers and help Din resurrect IG-11, who is now fully functional and ready to help on Mandalore.
