Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry left the game against the Dallas Mavericks, which the Warriors won 119-113, at the end of the third quarter because he hurt his left knee.

Curry got an X-ray right away, and the team said that the results were negative. He will then get an MRI.

Curry got hurt with 2:01 left in the third quarter when his left knee hit McKinley Wright IV's knee while he was being defended by Curry.

The Mavericks called a timeout, and Curry hobbled to the bench, where two team trainers were waiting for him. During the break, they checked on him, and when the players came back out to play again, Curry limped back to the locker room.

He was then taken out of the game for the rest of it. Curry's night was over when he scored 21 points on 7 of 11 shots and gave out seven assists.

"Any time a guy gets an MRI, there's a concern level," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "We'll just have to wait and see the results. ... This has happened many, many times over the years. So fingers crossed he's OK."

Curry hurt the same knee during the second half of Golden State's game against the Denver Nuggets two nights before. Kerr said he doesn't know if Curry's injury on Saturday night was caused by or had anything to do with that.

Due to concerns over Curry and Draymond Green's workload, Kerr planned to reduce Curry's minutes before the game. Kerr held Curry and Green in the second quarter longer to reduce their minutes.

Early in the season, Curry missed 11 games because of a subluxation in his left shoulder. The Warriors went 6-5 during that time.

Kerr said, "If he's out, we move on, and we do have some games and game film to look at." "We'll be ready no matter what."

At the time that Curry got hurt, the Warriors were ahead by 20 points. And up until that point, they were having one of their best offensive games in a while. Seven Golden State players scored more than 10 points, with Curry leading the way.

Draymond Green had 17 points and made three three-point shots. Both Klay Thompson and JaMychal Green scored 14 points in the end.

In the first half, Golden State scored 36 points in the paint, which was almost half of their points at the time and tied for their second-most points in the paint in a half this season. Jonathan Kuminga was especially good around the basket. He scored nine points on four out of five shots.

The Warriors' strong start was helped a lot by the fact that they moved the ball around a lot, which is a big part of how they play. They shot 20 of 33 from 50 points off passes in the first half.

But Golden State's trend of not being able to finish games kept going. When Curry left the game, the Warriors were up by 20, but with just over 90 seconds left, the Mavericks cut the lead to five.

Kerr said, "I didn't think we ended the game well at all." Green thinks it's because he didn't pay attention when it was important.

"We quit doing what works down the stretch," Green remarked. "Steve can't always get a call in when the game is close because you're under pressure, it's intense, and you're concentrating on the game. Better finishing is needed."
